Ziarah Guide
Panduan Ziarah · Adab, Yasin, Tahlil & Dua
Ziarah kubur is a sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. It is a reminder of the Hereafter and an act of mercy towards those who have passed.
- Enter the cemetery from the gate with the right foot first.
- Dress modestly and speak softly — this is a place of remembrance.
- Do not walk over or sit on graves.
- Recite the salam greeting upon entering (see below).
- Recite Al-Fatihah and whatever you are able from the Quran.
- Make dua for the deceased and all Muslims.
- Women may visit graves, though it is best to avoid wailing or excessive weeping.
- Keep your visit brief and focused on ibadah — it is not a social outing.
Recite this salam when you first step into the cemetery.
Assalāmu 'alaykum ahlad-diyāri minal-mu'minīna wal-muslimīn, wa innā in shā'a-Llāhu bikum lāḥiqūn, nas'alullāha lanā wa lakumul-'āfiyah.
Peace be upon you, O people of these dwellings, from among the believers and Muslims. We will indeed, in shā' Allāh, join you. We ask Allāh for well-being for us and for you.
